QMC is excited to announce that we have surpassed 2555 days without an onsite injury and we could not be more proud of our staff.

Safety Training

Safety starts with staying educated and up to date on safety protocols. We encourage all our staff members to take first aid courses, even during work hours, to increase the number of employees who are first aid certified. We had recently had five of our employees from our Port Coquitlam branch attend a level one emergency first aid course just last week . We also offer hearing testing for all staff as well as fall protection and safety training for our on site meter technicians.

Safety Onsite

Although much of our work takes place on existing properties we still frequently work on active construction sites for renovations or new developments that require submetering services. This puts our technicians in potentially dangerous positions, if they do not follow safety guidelines. All QMC staff are provided with basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are required to wear protective footwear at all times. We couldn’t be more proud of our technicians commitment to safety as we have only even received compliments regarding our employees following proper PPE and safety guidelines when we are on site.

How We Maintain A Safe Working Environment

How we maintain a safe working environment:

  • We have evacuation plans in the kitchen of all of our offices that has the location of all fire extinguishers, first aid kits, pull stations, muster stations, electrical shutoffs and emergency service parking spaces.
  • Beside the evacuation plan we have a in-depth description of that offices emergency evacuation meeting location and all relevant emergency phone numbers.
  • We also supply a document dedicated to basic first aid procedure which also lists our certified first aid employees.

“Employees at every level, including management, are responsible and accountable for the company’s overall safety initiatives.  Complete and active participation by everyone, every day, in every job is necessary for the safety excellence the company expects.  Management supports safety coordination among all workers on the job site and commits to working in a spirit of consultation and cooperation with its workers to achieve a safe and healthful work environment.” – Darlene Hunter, National Senior HR Manager

Online Safety – Digital Security Training

Safety isn’t limited to physical safety, virtual safety is just as important. Our digital security training has helped to keep our servers and operating systems safe, secure and active. The knowbe4 program has assisted in keeping our new and old staff members up to date on the latest security threats around the corporate world. Courses like how to identify safe links and best practices for handling and sharing sensitive information have been vital in helping to maintain a safe online environment at QMC.
