San Francisco Ranks High on National Clean Energy Scorecard

San Francisco ranks high on National Clean Energy Scorecard

San Francisco tops the charts of the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) scorecard, coming in at number two for advancing renewable energy initiatives, as well as energy efficiency in buildings.

This is the first year ACEEE is tracking policy efforts related to energy efficient buildings since they started 3 years ago.

Cities are ranked based on several core competencies, but revolve around five policy areas: Local government operations, community-wide initiatives, transportation policies, building policies, and energy and water utilities.

Of note here are building policies and energy and water utilities: By focusing on stricter building codes, and reducing utility consumption waste, building operators and cities can achieve Sustainability Through Accountability. Utilizing metering equipment, energy management software, direct utility billing, and tenant engagement is the best method to achieve energy reductions. Take a look at our PDF here.

These categories give a holistic view into a city’s total efforts to reduce climate pollution, as well as improving the lives of those living within.
