Today is the 5th annual Energy Efficiency Day (#EEDay2020), an awareness day around North America and globally that seeks to promote the benefits of energy efficiency, such as lower operational costs for owners, reduce pollution levels, and cut consumer bills.
What is #EEDay2020?
#EEDay2020 is held on the first Wednesday in October, and is meant to highlight the cost benefits of seeking reductions in energy use as well as pollution. It’s also a huge driver of job creation, per Efficiency Canada:
The Importance of Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency improvements span sectors and industries. Commercial, institutional and even residential properties can see energy efficiency improvements quickly and easily with the right hardware and software. Here are a few examples of how QMC has helped our clients improve their project sites:
Humber College (Ontario)
Humber College wanted to isolate and monitor energy use on their two campuses, in order to better track and target energy efficiency across 47 buildings. QMC partnered with Humber to effectively roll out a system that was able to universally meter and monitor their institutional site.
Granville Island (British Columbia)
QMC designed, supplied, installed and commissioned an automated, multi-utility submetering system to allocate costs to market and retail tenants across the urban island. Granville Island staff were able to consolidate their utilities billing into one energy management system.
CFB Trenton (Ontario)
QMC supplied, commissioned and integrated a multi-utility metering system to isolate the energy use of 60 separate buildings within the base. CFB Trenton was able to effectively use the system for energy management and measurement and verification purposes, as well as reduce their carbon footprint.
