Saving with Submetering
Submetering is one of the most efficient and effective ways for property managers, building owners and tenants a like to save money on utility expenses. This service saves the property manager the time of billing each tenant individually for utilities, as well as allowing them to not include utilities in the charging of rent. For building owners, submetering saves them money by mitigating damage that could be cause by leaking pipes or broken utilities. Submetering can detect if there are issues with the utilities being tracked by pointing out irregularities in the system that could be leaks or other issues with different utilities. Tenants save money by waste reduction which is made much more simple because of our MeterConnex service. MeterConnex allows tenants to only pay for what they use as well as see exactly what they are using for utilities. Seeing exactly how much they consume often causes tenants to reduce their use of these utilities to save money.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED SAVINGS FROM SUBMETERING?
From Energy Built Environment by John Z. Zhai and Andrea Salazar
- Submetering pays for itself quickly over time.
- Submetering lowers utilities usage rates.
In these three examples, investors made their investment back within a max of two years timespan.
All three of these projects found reduced usage from their tenants after submeters were installed and they could see their personal usage statistics. The usage reduction ranged between 10% all the way up to 19% on these projects.
