Project Scope
The Yonge & Eglington LRT Line, a crucial public transportation initiative, required efficient utility management due to its extensive network of stations and the involvement of both city and retail properties. The stations, including Kennedy, Laird, Leaside, Mount Pleasant, Eglinton, Chaplin, Forest Hill, Cedarvale, Oakwood, Fairbank, Caledonia, and Mount Dennis, along with TPSS 1-4, faced challenges in monitoring and managing electrical and water usage. Accurate tracking and cost allocation were essential to ensure the sustainability and financial efficiency of the project, making submetering a necessary solution.
Process
To address these challenges, we supplied and installed advanced electrical and water submetering systems across all specified stations. We also validated data for all new and existing water meters across the entire project, ensuring that all the data being communicated to the existing data management platform was accurate within a 1% margin for error. Our system enabled efficient invoicing and accurate cost-recouping processes. The construction and commissioning phases were meticulously executed, ensuring that all metering equipment was installed correctly and fully operational. This comprehensive approach ensured that both the city and retail properties benefited from accurate utility monitoring and management.
Outcome
After implementing our submetering system, connecting to the existing data management software and verifying that all meters on site were communicating accurately successfully completed this project, but our work did not stop there. Anytime there was a communication error or any problems on site we were quick to respond and fix the issue immediately. It was a pleasure to work on this project and the team at QMC looks forward to continuing to improving the efficiency of the LRT line in Ontario as it continues to expand.
