Project Scope
The Finch West LRT Line, including two major stations (Finch West and Humber College) and 16 intermediate stops, required a robust and efficient submetering solution to manage its electrical and water utilities effectively. The need for precise utility monitoring and cost recovery was crucial for the city and retail properties along the track. Additionally, similar infrastructure projects, like the one at Yonge and Eglinton, highlighted the importance of reliable submetering systems to optimize energy and water use, reduce labor costs and comply with local regulations.
Process
QMC collaborated with Sesco (Finch West and Humber) and Innprotech to provide advanced electrical metering solutions for the Finch West LRT Line project. We successfully connected all meters on site to seamlessly transfer data to the existing utility data management systemwhile ensuring minimal disruptions. All new meters were installed quickly across the track, leveraging their intelligent, encoded and utility-grade features. Our staff showcased their knowledge and expertise even after the project was completed through onsite training, covering safety, Measurement Canada Protocols and day to day meter maintenance. The Mosaic Group who partook in the training then completed our vendor training module to complete their QMC certification.

Outcome
This was one of QMC’s fastest project completions to date, we encountered no delays across the span of the entire project. The implementation of our submetering system and the integration of all meters into the existing utility data management platform has streamlined billing processes while ensuring accurate utility tracking. This seamless integration contributed to the overall operational efficiency and sustainability of the LRT line. This successful project demonstrates the effectiveness of a well-constructed submetering system in any industry, allowing for easy utility management and cost recovery on any scale.
